Project Abstract
This research project aimed to investigate the challenges faced by married female secretaries in selected business organizations in Owerri metropolis. The study utilized a qualitative research approach, employing semi-structured interviews with ten married female secretaries working in different companies in Owerri. The data collected was analyzed thematically to identify common challenges faced by these individuals. The findings of the research revealed several significant challenges encountered by married female secretaries in the workplace. These challenges included work-life balance issues, discrimination, lack of support from supervisors, and limited opportunities for career advancement. The participants reported struggling to juggle their responsibilities at work and home, often feeling overwhelmed by the conflicting demands placed on them. Furthermore, the study identified instances of discrimination and bias faced by married female secretaries, particularly in terms of promotions and salary increases. Many participants expressed frustration at the lack of recognition for their hard work and dedication, which they attributed to their marital status. Additionally, the lack of support from supervisors and colleagues was highlighted as a major obstacle for these individuals, affecting their job satisfaction and overall well-being. Moreover, the research highlighted the limited opportunities for career advancement available to married female secretaries in the selected business organizations. Participants reported feeling stagnant in their roles, with few prospects for growth or development. This lack of career progression was a source of dissatisfaction for many of the individuals interviewed, leading to feelings of frustration and disillusionment. In conclusion, the findings of this study shed light on the challenges faced by married female secretaries in the workplace, particularly in selected business organizations in Owerri metropolis. The research highlights the need for organizations to address issues related to work-life balance, discrimination, support systems, and career advancement to create a more inclusive and supportive environment for all employees, regardless of their marital status. Further research is recommended to explore potential solutions to these challenges and to develop strategies for promoting gender equality and diversity in the workplace.

</p><p>The major purpose of this study was to determine the challenges facing married female secretaries in their work places in selected business organization in owerri metropolis.</p><p>The population of the study consisted of 40 married female secretarial staff form the selected organizations. The entire population was used for the study. The research question were posed to guide the study A-30 items structured questionnaire was developed and validated percentage was used to answer the research questions.</p><p>The major facts of the secretaries were confidential and personnel secretaries were only the type of secretary in the elected business organizations who were married female secretaries. The married female secretaries staff has ignored to put in practice their duties, responsibilities and qualities of a good secretary and this posed to affect them in their work palce</p><p>Family problems have reflected to the challenges that confronted them in their work places, which makes them not working as expected.</p><p>It was recommended that secretaries should reaffirm their duties, responsibilities and qualification should not be overlooked in their tenor.</p><p>Finally. Employers should device a means of training their secretaries in all areas, giving adequate motivation to them and ensuring genuine human relation respectively</p>
