Project Abstract

The study examined the effect of
strategic environmental factors on the corporate performance of Multinational
Corporation using three (3) selected FMCG in Nigeria.
The broad objective of this study is to assess the strategic environment
and corporate performance of MNCs in Nigeria. The Cross-sectional survey design
approach was adopted for this study. Primary and secondary data were
extensively used. Primary data were generated by the use of a structured
questionnaire which was administered to 230 respondents, drawn from the senior
and middle-level management staff of the select Multinational Corporation in
Nigeria. The population of the study comprised of 545 senior and middle-level
management staff drawn from the 3 Multinational corporations. The sample size
was determined using the Taro Yamane formula, and the proportional allocation
formula was used in the distribution of the copies of the questionnaire to the
respondents. The statistical tool employed in testing the hypotheses were the
ordinary least square (OLS) involving the ordinal multiple regression analysis
and the Spearman rank correlation coefficient using SPSS version 20. From the
statistical analysis of the hypotheses, it was discovered that the three
environmental factors have a strategic impact on the corporate performance of
multinational corporations operating in Nigeria. It is, therefore, recommended
that multinational corporations should be aware of those factors that
positively impact on corporate performance and should be alert to business
challenges and initiate the process which will lead to improving strategic
factor awareness and the capability of the business to effect desirable
changes.
