Project Abstract
This study examined the effects of a 12-week structured resistance training program on bone mineral density (BMD) and functional fitness in older adults with metabolic syndrome (MetS). A randomized controlled trial was conducted with 120 participants aged 60–75 years diagnosed with MetS, assigned to either a supervised resistance training group (RT, n=60) or a non-exercise control group (CON, n=60). The RT program combined multi-joint exercises targeting major muscle groups, performed three times per week at moderate-to-vigorous intensity, progressing over 12 weeks to 3–4 sets of 8–12 repetitions per exercise, with loads adjusted to maintain effort near 70–85% 1-repetition maximum.
