Project Abstract
The abstract is as follows The outbreak of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) has had a significant impact on populations worldwide, including internally displaced persons (IDPs). This research project aims to investigate the specific effects of infectious epidemics, focusing on COVID-19, on IDPs. The study will utilize a case study approach to examine the experiences of IDPs living in camps and settlements during the COVID-19 pandemic. The research will explore the challenges faced by IDPs in accessing healthcare services, information, and resources to prevent and control the spread of infectious diseases within their settlements. It will also investigate the socio-economic impacts of the pandemic on IDPs, including disruptions to livelihoods, education, and social support systems. Furthermore, the project will analyze the response of local and international humanitarian organizations in addressing the needs of IDPs during the COVID-19 outbreak. This will involve examining the effectiveness of interventions such as health promotion campaigns, distribution of hygiene kits, and implementation of infection prevention and control measures in IDP camps. The study will employ a mixed-methods approach, combining qualitative interviews with key informants from humanitarian agencies and quantitative surveys with IDPs to gather comprehensive data on the impact of COVID-19 on IDPs. The research findings will be analyzed to identify common themes and patterns related to the challenges and coping strategies of IDPs in the face of infectious epidemics. The results of this research will contribute to the existing literature on the health and social vulnerabilities of IDPs in the context of infectious diseases. The findings will also inform policy and practice recommendations for improving the preparedness and response of humanitarian actors to future outbreaks among displaced populations. In conclusion, this study seeks to shed light on the unique challenges faced by IDPs during infectious epidemics, using the case of COVID-19 as a lens for understanding their experiences. By examining the impact of the pandemic on IDPs and the response of humanitarian actors, this research aims to enhance the resilience and well-being of displaced populations in the face of public health crises.
Project Overview

This research work empirically explored the impact of infectious epidemic on internally displaced persons in Nigeria a case study of corona virus disease. The objectives of this study were to examine the level of coronavirus disease in Nigeria, investigate the impact of coronavirus disease on poverty line of internally displaced persons in Nigeria. The scope of the study is internally displaced persons in Nigeria, The infectious disease transmission mechanism theory was used as a framework. The research design used for this study is survey, the population targeted for this study consists of all internally displaced persons camps across the country. 400 internally displaced persons were used as sample size and cluster sampling technique was applied. Instrument used for this study is the questionnaire. Data collected were collected from primary sources. From the analysis of the data, the findings shows that the level of coronavirus disease in Nigeria as compared to other countries is average, coronavirus disease has effect on the poverty level of internally displaced persons in Nigeria. Following the findings, it was recommended that measures should be devised to curb the spread of the virus and vaccine created so as to prevent further rise in poverty line of the internally displaced persons. The study concludes that coronavirus disease has effect on internally displaced persons.
