Project Abstract
Libraries play a crucial role in providing access to information and resources for the community. The quality of library services is a key factor in determining the effectiveness and impact of these institutions. This research project aims to develop a comprehensive framework for measuring the quality of library services, taking into account various dimensions such as access to resources, customer service, community engagement, and technology integration. The study will utilize a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative surveys with qualitative interviews and focus groups to gather data from library users, staff, and stakeholders. The quantitative surveys will assess user satisfaction with different aspects of library services, while the qualitative interviews and focus groups will provide in-depth insights into the perceptions and experiences of various stakeholders. The framework for measuring library service quality will be based on established models such as the SERVQUAL framework and the LibQUAL+ survey. These models emphasize the importance of understanding user expectations and perceptions in evaluating service quality. The research will adapt and customize these models to the specific context of library services, taking into account the unique challenges and opportunities faced by libraries in the digital age. In addition to user satisfaction, the framework will also consider other indicators of service quality, such as library usage statistics, collection development practices, and staff training and development. By incorporating multiple dimensions of service quality, the framework will provide a comprehensive and holistic assessment of library services. The findings of this research project will have practical implications for library managers and administrators, helping them identify areas for improvement and prioritize resources to enhance service quality. By implementing the framework for measuring library service quality, libraries can better meet the needs and expectations of their users, leading to increased satisfaction and engagement. Overall, this research project seeks to contribute to the ongoing efforts to improve the quality of library services and ensure that libraries remain relevant and effective in serving their communities. By developing a comprehensive framework for measuring service quality, this study aims to support the continuous improvement of library services and enhance their impact on the community.
