Project Abstract

The increasing popularity of virtual high schools, virtual colleges, and universities, as well as the growing number of home-schooled students, has raised the need for tailored library services to support the unique educational needs of these learners. This research project explores the challenges and opportunities in providing library services to students in virtual learning environments and those who are homeschooled. The study investigates the current state of library services for these populations, identifies gaps in service provision, and proposes strategies to enhance library support for virtual high schools, virtual colleges and universities, and home-schooled students. The research methodology includes a comprehensive literature review to understand the existing literature on library services for virtual learners and homeschooled students. Additionally, surveys and interviews will be conducted with librarians, educators, and students in virtual learning environments to gather first-hand insights into the specific needs and challenges faced in accessing library resources and services.
