Project Abstract

This research project aims to investigate and compare the academic performance of junior secondary school students in Home Economics in the Junior West African Senior School Certificate Examination (Jr. WASSCE) from 2008 to 2015 in Federal Government Colleges. The study will focus on analyzing the examination results of students in Home Economics over the eight-year period in order to identify trends and patterns in their performance. The research will utilize a quantitative research design, specifically a descriptive comparative analysis, to examine the academic performance of junior secondary school students in Home Economics. Data will be collected from the examination records of students who took the Jr. WASSCE in Federal Government Colleges between 2008 and 2015. The examination results will be analyzed to determine the overall performance of students in Home Economics and to identify any significant differences or trends over the eight-year period. The study will also explore potential factors that may influence the academic performance of students in Home Economics, such as teaching methods, curriculum changes, and student demographics. By examining these factors, the research aims to provide insights into the possible reasons behind variations in students' performance in Home Economics over the eight-year period. The findings of this research project are expected to contribute to the existing body of knowledge on academic performance in Home Economics among junior secondary school students in Federal Government Colleges. The results may have implications for curriculum development, teaching practices, and educational policies aimed at improving students' performance in Home Economics. Overall, this study will provide valuable insights into the academic performance of junior secondary school students in Home Economics in Jr. WASSCE examinations in Federal Government Colleges from 2008 to 2015. By comparing the examination results over the eight-year period and exploring potential factors influencing students' performance, this research aims to contribute to a better understanding of the trends and patterns in academic performance of students in Home Economics.
