Project Abstract

<p><br><br><br>This project examines the environmental impacts of population growth and increasing urbanization. It explores how population increases put additional stress on natural resources and ecosystems through higher consumption of goods, food, water and energy. The impacts of urban expansion through land use changes are also investigated, such as loss of habitat, increased pollution and waste generation, and effects on local hydrology and climate. Case studies of rapidly growing cities are analyzed to understand specific environmental challenges and the sustainability of current development patterns. The goal is to raise awareness of these issues and identify opportunities for more environmentally-friendly urban planning and design. <br><br><br></p>
