The abstract of the research content is as follows Heavy rainfalls have become a significant concern for farmers in Nigeria, particularly in the Itu Local Government area. This study aims to investigate the effects of heavy rainfall on farmlands in this region. The research will employ a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative data analysis with qualitative interviews to gather comprehensive insights into the impact of heavy rainfalls on agricultural productivity. The findings of this study will contribute to the existing literature by providing a detailed understanding of the challenges faced by farmers in Itu Local Government due to heavy rainfalls. Additionally, the research will explore the coping mechanisms employed by farmers to mitigate the adverse effects of heavy rainfall on their farmlands. By identifying these strategies, the study aims to offer recommendations for improving resilience and sustainability in agricultural practices in the face of increasingly unpredictable weather patterns. The research will be conducted over a period of six months, during which data will be collected through field observations, surveys, and interviews with local farmers. The quantitative data will be analyzed using statistical methods to assess the correlation between heavy rainfall and crop yield, while the qualitative data from interviews will provide valuable insights into the lived experiences of farmers dealing with the effects of heavy rainfalls.
