Project Abstract

<p> <br>This project analyzes and compares the environmental impacts of various water supply and treatment systems. It examines systems that rely on surface water sources like rivers and lakes as well as groundwater sources accessed through wells. The energy, infrastructure and chemicals required for water extraction, transport, treatment and distribution are evaluated. Water conservation strategies and their ability to reduce environmental impacts are also explored. The goal of this research is to understand how different approaches to providing drinking water impact air, water, land and biodiversity to help identify more sustainable options. <br></p>
