Project Abstract

Banking habits in rural communities have been a subject of interest for researchers and policymakers due to the importance of financial inclusion in promoting economic development and reducing poverty levels. This study aims to investigate the banking habits of individuals living in rural areas, focusing on their access to banking services, frequency of banking transactions, preferred banking channels, and factors influencing their banking behavior. The research will employ a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews to gather comprehensive data on the banking habits in rural communities. The quantitative surveys will be distributed among a sample of rural residents to collect information on their banking practices, such as the types of accounts they hold, the frequency of visits to banks, and their utilization of online banking services. In addition, the surveys will explore the barriers that prevent rural residents from fully engaging with formal banking systems. Furthermore, qualitative interviews will be conducted with a subset of survey participants to delve deeper into the factors influencing their banking habits. The interviews will provide insights into the attitudes, perceptions, and experiences of rural residents regarding banking services, shedding light on the cultural, social, and economic factors that shape their behavior. The findings of this research are expected to contribute to the existing literature on financial inclusion and rural banking by offering a nuanced understanding of the banking habits in rural communities. By identifying the challenges faced by rural residents in accessing and using banking services, this study aims to inform policymakers and financial institutions on strategies to improve financial inclusion in rural areas. Moreover, the research findings may have practical implications for designing targeted interventions and financial products that cater to the specific needs and preferences of rural populations. Overall, this study seeks to provide valuable insights into the banking habits of individuals in rural communities, highlighting the opportunities and challenges in promoting financial inclusion in these areas. By bridging the gap between research and practice, this research aims to contribute to the development of inclusive and sustainable banking systems that benefit rural residents and contribute to overall economic growth and development.
