Utilizing Mobile Technology for Agricultural Extension Services in Rural Communities

Project Abstract

This research project aims to investigate the impact of utilizing mobile technology for agricultural extension services in rural communities. Agricultural extension services play a crucial role in disseminating information, knowledge, and technologies to farmers, helping them improve their agricultural practices and productivity. However, traditional extension services face challenges in reaching remote rural areas due to limited resources and infrastructure. Mobile technology has the potential to overcome these challenges by providing a cost-effective and efficient platform for delivering extension services to farmers in rural communities. The research will be conducted using a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews with farmers, agricultural extension workers, and other stakeholders in rural communities. The study will focus on exploring the current state of agricultural extension services in rural areas, the level of access to mobile technology among farmers and extension workers, and the perceived benefits and challenges of using mobile technology for extension services. The review will synthesize existing knowledge and identify gaps in the literature that the current research aims to address. Chapter 3 will outline the research methodology, including research design, data collection methods, sampling techniques, data analysis procedures, and ethical considerations. This chapter will also describe the study area and provide details on the participants involved in the research. Chapter 4 will present the findings of the research, including an analysis of the survey data and interview responses. The chapter will discuss the key themes that emerged from the data, highlighting the benefits and challenges of utilizing mobile technology for agricultural extension services in rural communities.
