Project Abstract
This research study aims to investigate the impact of hands-on experiments on student learning in high school chemistry classes. The use of hands-on experiments in science education has been recognized as an effective teaching approach to enhance student engagement, understanding, and retention of scientific concepts. However, limited research has focused specifically on the impact of hands-on experiments in high school chemistry classes. This study seeks to address this gap by exploring how hands-on experiments influence student learning outcomes in the context of high school chemistry education. The research will be conducted using a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative data analysis and qualitative insights from student surveys and interviews. A sample of high school chemistry classes will be selected to participate in the study, with some classes utilizing hands-on experiments as part of their curriculum and others following a traditional lecture-based approach. Data will be collected on student performance, engagement levels, and attitudes towards science and chemistry education. The findings of this study are expected to provide valuable insights into the effectiveness of hands-on experiments in enhancing student learning in high school chemistry classes. By comparing the outcomes of classes using hands-on experiments with those following traditional teaching methods, this research aims to identify the benefits and challenges associated with incorporating hands-on experiments in the high school chemistry curriculum. The results of this study will contribute to the existing body of knowledge on science education and inform educational practices aimed at improving student learning outcomes in chemistry education. Overall, this research project seeks to shed light on the impact of hands-on experiments on student learning in high school chemistry classes and offer recommendations for educators, curriculum developers, and policymakers to enhance the quality of science education in secondary schools. By promoting active learning and practical engagement in the classroom, this study aims to foster a deeper understanding and appreciation of chemistry among high school students, ultimately preparing them for future academic and career success in the field of science.
