Project Abstract

Integrated Science and Computer Science are two essential subjects in the junior secondary school curriculum. However, some topics within these subjects are challenging for both students and teachers. This research project aims to identify the difficult teaching topics in these subjects to provide insights for curriculum improvement and teacher training. The study will utilize a mixed-methods approach to gather data from both teachers and students. Surveys and interviews will be conducted to collect information on the topics that are perceived as difficult by teachers and students. Additionally, classroom observations will be carried out to identify specific topics that students struggle with during instruction. The findings from this research will help in understanding the specific areas within Integrated Science and Computer Science that are challenging for junior secondary school students. By identifying these difficult topics, curriculum developers can make necessary adjustments to improve the learning experience for students. Moreover, teacher training programs can be tailored to address these challenging topics, equipping educators with the necessary skills and strategies to effectively teach these concepts. Overall, this research project will contribute to enhancing the quality of education in junior secondary schools by pinpointing the difficult teaching topics in Integrated Science and Computer Science. By addressing these challenges, educators can create a more engaging and effective learning environment for students, ultimately improving their academic achievement and understanding of these subjects.

Project Overview

<p> </p><p>This research work is based on the identification of difficult teaching topics in junior secondary school curriculum. In Enugu North.<br>The purpose of the study was to identify the difficult teaching topics in integrated and computer science. The design was a simply survey design while the instrument was purely on the questionnaire which had 30 items and 200 respondent.</p><p>Data were analyzed with the use of Mean, the researcher found out that the difficult teaching topics was as a result of poor knowledge of the teachers on the subject matter, poor methodologies, lack of teaching aids and abstractness of the subjects/topics.</p><p>The researcher then recommended that well qualified teachers should be employed, and teachers should teach with teaching aids for effective learning to take place with appropriate methodologies. And Government should help through the position of teaching aids, organization seminar and work shops for integrated and computer science teachers.</p> <br><p></p>
