Project Abstract

Resource control agitation is a significant issue in Rivers State, Nigeria, with implications that go beyond regional boundaries. This study aims to explore the causes and implications of resource control agitation in Rivers State. The research investigates the historical context of resource control agitation in the region, examining the relationship between natural resource ownership and political power. The study employs a mixed-methods approach, utilizing both quantitative and qualitative data collection methods. Surveys and interviews are conducted with key stakeholders, including government officials, community leaders, and activists involved in resource control agitation. Additionally, secondary data sources such as government reports, academic articles, and news sources are analyzed to provide a comprehensive understanding of the issue. The findings of the study reveal that resource control agitation in Rivers State is rooted in historical injustices and disparities in resource allocation. In conclusion, this study sheds light on the complex dynamics of resource control agitation in Rivers State and highlights the need for a more inclusive and equitable resource management system. Addressing the root causes of resource control agitation through dialogue, negotiation, and policy reform is essential to fostering peace, stability, and sustainable development in the region.
