Effects of the national policy on education on teaching and learning of government in nigerian secondary schools

Education is a crucial aspect of national development, and government policies play a significant role in shaping the teaching and learning processes in schools. This study aims to explore the effects of the national policy on education on teaching and learning in Nigerian secondary schools, with a specific focus on government schools. The Nigerian educational system has undergone several reforms over the years, with policies introduced to improve the quality of education provided in schools. However, the implementation of these policies and their impact on teaching and learning outcomes have not been extensively studied, particularly in the context of government secondary schools. Through a mixed-methods approach, this research will investigate how the national policy on education influences the teaching methods, curriculum delivery, teacher training, and student learning outcomes in government secondary schools in Nigeria. The study will examine the alignment between the policy directives and the actual practices in schools, identifying any gaps or challenges that may hinder effective implementation. Additionally, the perceptions and experiences of teachers, school administrators, and students regarding the impact of the education policy will be explored through surveys, interviews, and focus group discussions. The findings of this study are expected to provide valuable insights into the strengths and weaknesses of the current education policy framework in Nigeria and its implications for teaching and learning in government secondary schools. By understanding the factors that shape the educational landscape in these schools, policymakers can make informed decisions to enhance the quality of education and improve student outcomes. This research also aims to contribute to the existing literature on education policy and practice in Nigeria, filling a gap in knowledge regarding the specific challenges faced by government secondary schools. Overall, this study seeks to shed light on the complex relationship between national education policy and the teaching and learning processes in Nigerian secondary schools, particularly those run by the government.
