</p><div><p><em>This research work focuses on <strong>“AN EVALUATION OF THE EFFECT OF MANPOWER TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT IN SERVICE ORGANIZATION”.</strong> A case study of Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company (PHED) Uyo Zone. The problems of the study were lack of qualified instructors and consultants to undertake training courses and lack of effective communication which makes it impossible for most employees to know about training opportunities available for them. The objective was to highlight the advantage of employee training and development, to examine the current training and development of employee in the organization and also appropriate measures that could help improve the current manpower training and development programmes. A case study design was use in this study, the population in this study comprise of the staff of P.H.E.D at it working premises at Ukana Offot street Uyo and it was thirty (30) staff, due to the small population, the population was also used as sample size. The researcher used the non-probability sampling method in this study and under the non-probability sampling method, the researcher chooses the incidence sampling method. Data for this study was collected from both primary and secondary source. The statistical instrument used in testing of the hypotheses was chi-square. Among the major findings of this work was that training improve productivity in an organization, training and development improve the skills and knowledge of employee in an organization and also leads to employee efficiency and effectiveness. The researcher therefore recommended that the organization should employed qualified people who will be able to undertake training courses, there should be a free flow of information to enable all the staff to be aware of the training and development programme available for them both internally and externally and also training should be made a continuous process so that employees can get acquainted with current technological changes.</em></p><p></p></div><h3></h3><br>
