Peace from home to school: training parents of children with attention-deficit and hyperactivity disorder in behaviour modification skills to motivate the children to learn

Project Abstract

Children with attention-deficit and hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) often face challenges in their academic performance due to difficulties with concentration, impulsivity, and hyperactivity. These challenges can impact their learning experience both at home and in school. Involving parents in the behavioral modification process can provide crucial support to enhance the child's motivation and academic success. This research project aims to explore the impact of training parents of children with ADHD in behavior modification skills to motivate their children to learn effectively. The study will focus on implementing a structured training program for parents, incorporating techniques such as positive reinforcement, consistent discipline, and effective communication strategies. By empowering parents with these skills, the research seeks to create a supportive environment that promotes positive behavior and academic engagement in children with ADHD. The methodology will involve a pre-test and post-test design to assess the effectiveness of the parent training program. Parents will participate in workshops and individual coaching sessions to learn and practice behavior modification strategies tailored to their child's specific needs. The children's academic performance, behavior, and motivation will be evaluated before and after the intervention to measure the impact of the parent training program.
