Project Abstract

Antimicrobial resistance is a growing global health concern, with drug-resistant bacteria posing a significant threat to human health. In light of this, the use of natural plant extracts as potential antimicrobial agents has garnered increasing interest due to their perceived safety and potential efficacy. This research project aims to investigate the antimicrobial activity of natural plant extracts against drug-resistant bacteria. The study will begin with a comprehensive literature review to establish the background and theoretical framework for the research. This will include an overview of antimicrobial resistance, the current challenges associated with drug-resistant bacteria, and the potential of natural plant extracts as alternative antimicrobial agents. The research methodology will involve the extraction of bioactive compounds from selected plant species known for their antimicrobial properties. These plant extracts will then be subjected to various antimicrobial assays to evaluate their effectiveness against a panel of drug-resistant bacteria strains. The methods used will include disc diffusion assays, minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) determination, and time-kill kinetics studies.
