Project Abstract
The Anammco Workers Multi-Purpose Co-operative Society (Enugu) plays a significant role in the economic and social welfare of its members. This study aimed to provide an appraisal of the activities and management methods employed by the co-operative society. A mixed-methods approach was utilized, combining both qualitative and quantitative data collection techniques. The study found that the co-operative society engages in various activities including savings mobilization, credit provision, and social welfare programs. These activities have positively impacted the members by promoting financial inclusion and social cohesion within the community. The management methods of the co-operative society were analyzed, revealing a democratic decision-making process where members have a voice in the governance of the society. However, challenges such as limited financial resources and inadequate infrastructure were identified as areas that require improvement. The study also examined the training and capacity-building initiatives implemented by the society to enhance the skills and knowledge of its members. Overall, the findings suggest that the Anammco Workers Multi-Purpose Co-operative Society (Enugu) is making a significant contribution to the well-being of its members. By providing financial services, promoting social welfare, and fostering a sense of community among its members, the co-operative society serves as a vital institution in the local economy. Recommendations for improvement include strengthening financial management practices, investing in infrastructure development, and expanding training programs to build the capacity of members. This study contributes to the existing literature on co-operative societies by providing an in-depth analysis of the activities and management methods of the Anammco Workers Multi-Purpose Co-operative Society (Enugu). The findings can be used by policymakers, researchers, and practitioners interested in promoting the growth and sustainability of co-operative societies as a means of fostering economic development and social inclusion. Further research is recommended to explore the long-term impacts of co-operative societies on the livelihoods of their members and the broader community.
