Project Abstract
This research project aims to conduct a statistical survey on student sight level, focusing on a case study of Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin. The objective is to assess the visual acuity of students in order to understand the prevalence of sight issues within the student population. The study will involve a sample of students from different departments and levels of study within the institution. The methodology will include both quantitative and qualitative approaches. Visual acuity tests will be conducted using standard eye charts to measure the students' ability to see clearly at various distances. In addition, surveys and interviews will be carried out to gather information on any existing eye conditions, history of vision problems, and awareness of eye health among the students. Statistical analysis will be employed to interpret the data collected from the survey. Descriptive statistics will be used to present the distribution of visual acuity levels among the students, while inferential statistics may be applied to identify any significant correlations between visual acuity and factors such as age, gender, and academic performance. The findings of this research will provide valuable insights into the sight level of students at Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin. By understanding the prevalence of sight issues and potential risk factors among the student population, appropriate interventions can be recommended to promote eye health and overall well-being. This study may also contribute to the existing literature on visual acuity among students in academic institutions. In conclusion, this research project on student sight level at Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin, holds significance in addressing the importance of eye health among the student population. By conducting a statistical survey and analyzing the data collected, this study aims to contribute to the promotion of eye care awareness and potentially improve the visual well-being of students within the institution.
Project Overview

1.0 INTRODUCTION

Effective communication in the classroom is essential to the success of both the student and the teacher. The kind of communication as well as the amount of communication that occurs in the classroom has long been thought to be partially a function of the seating arrangement of students. Where there probably is an infinite number of ways of arranging a classroom, three are most common; traditional, horseshoe and modular.

The traditional arrangement for classroom typically consists of about five or six perfectly straight rows, each containing five to seven chairs equidistant from each other or as Rosenfield and Civikly say, “something like tombstones in a military cemetery”. Historically, Sommer explains the straight-row arrangement evolved to make the best use of the only adequate lighting then available-natural light from side windows. In spite of development in lighting which make the straight-row arrangement unnecessary, this traditional arrangement persists, in fact dominates. A recent survey of classrooms on a University Campus found over 90 percent of the classrooms to have this arrangement.
