The rapid evolution of social media platforms has significantly impacted human communication patterns and language use. This study investigates the influence of social media on language evolution through a corpus-based analysis. The research aims to explore how social media interactions shape language development, usage, and trends, ultimately contributing to the evolution of linguistic practices in online and offline contexts. Chapter One provides an introduction to the research topic, presenting the background of the study, problem statement, objectives, limitations, scope, significance, structure of the research, and key definitions of terms. The chapter sets the foundation for understanding the importance of examining the impact of social media on language evolution. Chapter Two presents a comprehensive literature review that examines existing research on social media, language evolution, and corpus linguistics. The review encompasses ten key areas, including the history of social media, linguistic changes in digital communication, the role of social media in language evolution, and the use of corpora in linguistic studies.
