Project Abstract
This research project explores the impact of group guidance on graduate counseling students' preference for the use of computer-based technology. The study aims to investigate how participating in group guidance sessions may influence students' attitudes and preferences towards utilizing technology in their counseling practice. The research will be conducted using a mixed-methods approach, incorporating both quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews to gather data. The participants in this study will be graduate counseling students enrolled in a counseling program at a university. They will be divided into two groups one group will receive group guidance sessions focused on the benefits and practical applications of computer-based technology in counseling, while the other group will not participate in these sessions. Both groups will be asked to complete surveys before and after the intervention to assess changes in their attitudes towards technology use in counseling. Quantitative data will be analyzed using statistical methods to identify any significant differences in technology preferences between the two groups. Qualitative data from interviews will be thematically analyzed to provide deeper insights into the reasons behind any observed changes in attitudes. The combination of quantitative and qualitative data will offer a comprehensive understanding of the impact of group guidance on graduate counseling students' technology preferences. The findings of this research have the potential to inform counseling programs and educators about the effectiveness of group guidance in shaping students' attitudes towards technology. Understanding how group interventions can influence students' preferences for technology can help counseling programs tailor their curriculum to better prepare students for the digital aspects of modern counseling practice. By shedding light on the impact of group guidance on technology preferences, this study contributes to the growing body of research on technology integration in counseling education. It also highlights the importance of considering social influences, such as group dynamics and peer interactions, in shaping students' attitudes towards technology. Ultimately, this research aims to support the development of counseling students who are equipped and confident in utilizing technology to enhance their counseling practice.
