Project Abstract

Prostitution among females in tertiary institutions in Nigeria has become a growing concern due to its prevalence and impact on academic performance and students' well-being. This research project aims to investigate the causes, prevalence, and effects of female prostitution in the College of Education, Ekiadolor-Benin, as a case study to provide insights into this issue. The study will employ a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews to gather comprehensive data. The causes of female prostitution will be explored, including economic factors, peer influence, family background, and societal norms. The research will also examine the prevalence of prostitution among female students in the College of Education, Ekiadolor-Benin, to determine the extent of the issue within the institution. Furthermore, the study will investigate the effects of female prostitution on the academic performance and mental health of students involved. Academic performance indicators such as grades, attendance records, and dropout rates will be analyzed to assess the impact of prostitution on students' educational outcomes.
