Project Abstract

**
This project examines the portrayal of colonialism in French cinema and analyzes the ways in which colonial discourse is constructed, negotiated, and critiqued on the silver screen. Through a comprehensive exploration of key films spanning different historical periods and genres, this study aims to uncover the complexities of colonial representation, the power dynamics at play, and the impact on postcolonial identities. By drawing on critical theories of postcolonialism, film studies, and cultural studies, the project seeks to provide a nuanced understanding of how French cinema both reflects and shapes perceptions of colonial history and its legacy.

Project Overview
