Deceit and denial: the deadly politics of industrial pollution
Table Of Contents
Project Abstract
Industrial pollution is a pressing global issue with far-reaching consequences for human health and the environment. The politics surrounding industrial pollution often involve deceit and denial by corporations and governments, leading to dire consequences for communities living in close proximity to industrial facilities. This research project delves into the intricate web of deceit and denial that characterizes the political landscape of industrial pollution. Through a comprehensive review of literature and case studies, this research sheds light on the strategies employed by industrial actors to deceive the public and policymakers about the true extent of pollution and its impacts. From manipulating data to downplaying health risks, corporations have been known to engage in a range of deceptive practices to protect their interests and avoid accountability. Moreover, governments have often been complicit in this deceit by prioritizing economic interests over public health and environmental protection. Regulatory capture, revolving door practices, and industry influence have all contributed to a culture of denial and inaction when it comes to addressing industrial pollution. The collusion between industry and government not only perpetuates pollution but also undermines democratic processes and the rule of law. Communities living near industrial sites bear the brunt of this deceit and denial, experiencing higher rates of respiratory illnesses, cancers, and other health problems as a result of exposure to pollution. Environmental justice issues are exacerbated as marginalized communities, often low-income and minority populations, are disproportionately affected by industrial pollution and its associated health risks. In light of these challenges, this research also explores grassroots movements and advocacy efforts aimed at holding polluters accountable and demanding greater transparency and regulation. Community-based monitoring initiatives, citizen science projects, and legal actions have all played a role in challenging the status quo and pushing for more stringent environmental protections. Ultimately, this research underscores the urgent need for a paradigm shift in how industrial pollution is addressed. By exposing the tactics of deceit and denial employed by polluters and their allies, this research aims to empower communities, policymakers, and civil society actors to demand greater accountability, transparency, and justice in the realm of industrial pollution. Only through collective action and a commitment to truth-telling can we hope to address the deadly politics of industrial pollution and safeguard the health and well-being of present and future generations.

This resulting exposé is full of startling revelations, provocative arguments, and disturbing conclusions–all based on remarkable research and information gleaned from secret industry documents. Industrial Pollution.

This book reveals for the first time the public relations campaign that the lead industry undertook to convince Americans to use its daeadly product to paint walls, toys, furniture, and other objects in America’s homes, despite a wealth of information that children were at risk for serious brain damage and death from ingesting this poison. Industrial Pollution This book highlights the immediate dangers ordinary citizens face because of the relentless failure of industrial polluters to warn, inform, and protect their workers and neighbors. Industrial Pollution.

It offers a historical analysis of how corporate control over scientific research has undermined the process of proving the links between toxic chemicals and disease. The authors also describe the wisdom, courage, and determination of workers and community members who continue to voice their concerns in spite of vicious opposition .Industrial Pollution Readable, ground-breaking, and revelatory, Deceit and Denial provides crucial answers to questions of dangerous environmental degradation, escalating corporate greed, and governmental disregard for its citizens’ safety and health. Industrial Pollution.

After eleven years, Markowitz and Rosner update their work with a new epilogue that outlines the attempts these industries have made to undermine and create doubt about the accuracy of the information in this book.
