Project Abstract

Property tax assessment on residential properties in Imo State is a critical aspect of local government revenue generation and administration. This research project aims to analyze the current property tax assessment system in Imo State, focusing specifically on residential properties. The study will explore the methods and procedures used by the Imo State government in assessing property taxes on residential properties, as well as the challenges and limitations faced in the process. The research will involve a comprehensive review of relevant literature on property tax assessment, local government revenue generation, and property taxation in Nigeria. Data will be collected through interviews with key stakeholders involved in property tax assessment in Imo State, including government officials, tax assessors, property owners, and tax consultants. Additionally, property tax assessment records and documents will be analyzed to understand the assessment criteria, valuation methods, and tax rates applied to residential properties in Imo State. The findings of the study will provide insights into the effectiveness and efficiency of the current property tax assessment system in Imo State, with a focus on residential properties.
