The Representation of Gender in Contemporary Nigerian Literature

This research study delves into the intricate exploration of gender representation in contemporary Nigerian literature. The representation of gender in literature has been a subject of immense scholarly interest as it reflects societal norms, values, and power dynamics. Through an analysis of selected works of contemporary Nigerian literature, this study seeks to unravel the complexities and nuances surrounding the portrayal of gender roles, identities, and relationships in the Nigerian literary landscape. The introductory chapter sets the stage by providing an overview of the research topic, the background of the study, the problem statement, the objectives of the study, the limitations, the scope, the significance of the study, the structure of the research, and the definition of key terms. This chapter aims to establish a solid foundation for the subsequent chapters and to elucidate the research framework.
