Project Abstract

Periodontitis is a prevalent chronic inflammatory condition affecting the supporting tissues of the teeth. Conventional treatment modalities for periodontitis include scaling and root planing, surgical interventions, and antimicrobial therapy. However, recent advancements in dental technology have introduced laser therapy as a potential alternative or adjunctive treatment for periodontitis. This research aims to assess the efficacy of laser therapy in the treatment of periodontitis by evaluating its impact on clinical parameters and patient outcomes. The study will begin with a comprehensive literature review to establish the current understanding of periodontitis pathogenesis, conventional treatment approaches, and the principles of laser therapy in dentistry. The literature review will explore the mechanisms of action of lasers in periodontal therapy, including their antimicrobial effects, ability to promote tissue healing, and potential for reducing inflammation. Following the literature review, the research methodology will be outlined, detailing the study design, participant selection criteria, treatment protocols, outcome measures, and statistical analysis plan.
