Assessment of the Efficacy of Laser Therapy in the Management of Oral Mucositis in Cancer Patients Undergoing Chemotherapy

Project Abstract

Oral mucositis is a common and debilitating side effect experienced by cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy. This research project aims to assess the efficacy of laser therapy in managing oral mucositis in this patient population. The study will involve a comprehensive literature review to establish the current understanding of oral mucositis, its etiology, and existing management strategies. Additionally, the research will examine the principles and mechanisms of action of laser therapy in the context of oral mucositis treatment. The methodology will involve a prospective clinical trial where cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy will be recruited and randomized into two groups one receiving laser therapy and the other receiving standard care.
