Project Abstract
Terrorism has become a significant security threat globally, and Nigeria is not immune to this menace. Airports, being critical transportation hubs, present attractive targets for terrorist activities. This research project focuses on the role of airport administration in the fight against terrorism in Nigeria. The study aims to assess the current security measures in place at Nigerian airports, identify potential vulnerabilities, and propose strategies to enhance airport security to mitigate the risk of terrorist attacks. The research will employ a mixed-methods approach, combining qualitative and quantitative data collection methods. Interviews with key airport personnel, security experts, and government officials will provide insights into the existing security protocols and challenges faced by airport administrations in Nigeria. Additionally, surveys and questionnaires will be distributed to airport staff and passengers to gather their perspectives on airport security and potential areas for improvement. The findings from this research will contribute to the existing body of knowledge on airport security and terrorism prevention in Nigeria. By identifying gaps in the current security measures and proposing recommendations for enhancing airport security, this study aims to assist airport administrations, security agencies, and policymakers in developing more effective strategies to combat terrorism at Nigerian airports. Strengthening airport security not only protects passengers and airport staff but also safeguards national security and the country's economy. The study acknowledges that ensuring airport security is a multifaceted and collaborative effort that involves various stakeholders, including airport authorities, security agencies, government bodies, and international partners. By fostering coordination and cooperation among these entities, airport administrations can strengthen their ability to detect, deter, and respond to potential terrorist threats effectively. In conclusion, this research project underscores the critical role of airport administration in the fight against terrorism in Nigeria. By enhancing security measures, addressing vulnerabilities, and promoting collaboration among stakeholders, Nigerian airports can better protect against terrorist attacks and contribute to national security efforts. The findings and recommendations of this study aim to inform policy decisions and operational practices to improve airport security and safeguard the traveling public.
