Project Abstract

The relationship between policing and public perceptions of the police in Nigeria is a complex and multifaceted issue that has significant implications for law enforcement effectiveness and public trust in the criminal justice system. This research project aims to explore the factors influencing public perceptions of the police in Nigeria and how these perceptions impact the overall effectiveness of policing in the country. The study will employ a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative surveys with qualitative interviews to gather data from a diverse range of participants, including members of the public, police officers, and community leaders. The quantitative surveys will measure public perceptions of the police in terms of trust, confidence, and satisfaction with police services, while the qualitative interviews will provide in-depth insights into the underlying factors shaping these perceptions.
