Project Abstract

This research project focuses on developing a financial software solution tailored for cyber-cafe management. Cyber-cafes are popular establishments where individuals can access the internet, use computers, and enjoy various services. Managing a cyber-cafe involves overseeing computer usage, controlling access, monitoring time spent by customers, and handling financial transactions. Implementing an efficient financial software system can streamline operations, enhance customer experience, and improve overall business performance. The financial software for cyber-cafe management will offer features such as user authentication, time tracking, billing and invoicing, reporting, and inventory management. User authentication will help in identifying customers and tracking their computer usage. Time tracking functionality will allow the cyber-cafe to monitor the duration for which each customer uses the facilities, helping in accurate billing. Billing and invoicing modules will automate the process of charging customers based on their usage, reducing manual errors and improving revenue collection. Furthermore, the financial software will include reporting capabilities to generate insights into key performance indicators such as revenue, customer traffic, popular services, and peak hours of operation. These reports will assist cyber-cafe managers in making informed decisions to optimize resource allocation and improve profitability. <p> </p><div><p><strong>INTRODUCTION</strong></p><p><strong>1.0 Introduction</strong></p><p>This chapter presents the introduction to financial software for cyber-café management it discusses the theoretical background, statement of the problem, aim and objectives of the study, significance of the study, scope of the study, organization of the research and definition of terms.</p><p><strong>1.1 Theoretical Background</strong></p><p>The technology used for the implementation of the system is Visual Basic 6.0 programming language and Microsoft Access 2003 database. An interfacae is created using Visual Basic to capture the financial information and it is saved to the Microsoft access database for future retrieval. Database technology was used so that report of financial information can be be retrieved when needed so long as it saves. It also aids accurate computation of financial information. The following are the specific objectives to realize the aim of the project:</p><ol><li>To develop a system that can be used to capture financial information of time slots and amount (income) sold daily.</li><li>To develop a system that can be used to record the daily expenses in the cyber café.</li><li>To develop a system that can be used to present financial reports of income and expenses.</li></ol><p><strong>1.4 Significance of the Study</strong></p><p>The study is significant to the case study in the following ways:</p><ol><li>It will provide an avenue for the cybercafé to manage their financial information.</li><li>It will facilitate the presentation of financial reports pertaining to the income and expenses of the cybercafé</li><li>The system will serve as a useful reference material for other researchers seeking similar information</li></ol></div><div><p><strong>1.5 Scope of the Study</strong></p><p>This study covers financial software for cyber-café management using stallion Net cyber café, Uyo Akwa Ibom State.</p><p><strong>1.6 Organization of the Research</strong></p><p>This research work is organized into five chapters. Chapter one is concerned with the introduction of the research study and it presents the preliminaries, theoretical background, statement of the problem, aim and objectives of the study, significance of the study, scope of the study, organization of the research and definition of terms.</p><p>Chapter two focuses on the literature review, the contributions of other scholars on the subject matter is discussed.</p><p>Chapter three is concerned with the system analysis and design. It presents the research methodology used in the development of the system, it analyzes the present system to identify the problems and provides information on the advantages and disadvantages of the proposed system.
