Project Abstract
Academic anxiety is a common issue among students, impacting their performance and overall well-being. This research project aims to explore the effects of academic anxiety on the performance of students with and without learning disabilities, as well as to investigate coping strategies that can help students manage anxiety at school. The study will involve a sample of students from different academic backgrounds to assess the prevalence of academic anxiety and its impact on academic performance. Data will be collected through surveys, interviews, and academic records analysis. The results of this research will contribute to understanding the relationship between academic anxiety and student performance, particularly in the context of learning disabilities. By comparing the experiences of students with and without learning disabilities, the study will provide insights into how academic anxiety manifests differently among these groups and its specific effects on academic outcomes. Additionally, the research will identify common coping mechanisms used by students to deal with academic anxiety and evaluate their effectiveness in mitigating its negative consequences. The findings of this study will have implications for educators, school counselors, and other professionals working with students experiencing academic anxiety. By highlighting the challenges faced by students with learning disabilities in managing anxiety, the research can inform the development of targeted interventions and support services to help these students succeed academically. Moreover, the identification of effective coping strategies can be incorporated into school-based programs to promote mental health and well-being among all students. Overall, this research project seeks to shed light on the complex interplay between academic anxiety, student performance, and learning disabilities. By examining these factors from a holistic perspective, the study aims to provide valuable insights that can inform practices and policies aimed at supporting students in managing anxiety and achieving academic success. Ultimately, the goal is to empower students to cope effectively with academic anxiety and thrive in their educational pursuits.
Project Overview
<p>
This research paper explores the relationship between anxiety, student achievement, self-concept, and self-efficacy for students with and without disabilities. Anxiety can have negative effects on all students. Students with anxiety problems tend to show lower levels of academic achievement, self-efficacy, and self-concept. Anxiety reduction requires the work of students, teachers, and parents. Mindfulness Meditation, metacognition, coping, teacher involvement, and test question order are anxiety reduction strategies explored. Problem based learning is a teaching method proven to increase students’ levels of positive metacognition. Ideas for further research involving anxiety and students with learning disabilities are explored.
