Project Abstract

The purpose of this research was to examine and investigate some of the factors influencing the choice of teaching as a career among male students of College of Education, Ekiadolor-Benin, the data contained in this project work is the result of my personal observation, oral interview and administered questionnaires to persons mostly concerned among whom are students of College of Education. The outcome result of my findings shows that the commonest factors influencing teaching as a career among male students is inadequate teaching aids, poor salary, lack of guidance and counselling and lack of competence. This resulted from bad government, poor infrastructure in school and bad staffing. Trace was also made to male students who see teaching as a mini job and who also see teaching profession as a clumping for intelligence people. To each categories of problem follows a suggested solution, if these suggestions are adjured to by governments, lecturers and parents, it will encourage male students to take teaching as a profession
