Key dimensions explored include data quality and governance, CRM platform integration, analytics maturity, and the organizational capabilities required to leverage customer data for value co-creation. The study examines four core performance pathways (1) enhanced customer acquisition and retention through personalized engagement and journey mapping, (2) improved operational efficiency via process automation, streamlined workflows, and real-time decision support, (3) increased revenue and profitability through cross-selling, up-selling, and demand forecasting, and (4) risk mitigation through customer behavior analytics and compliance with data privacy regulations. Findings indicate that the strategic value of CRM resides not merely in technology adoption but in the alignment of data capabilities with business processes, culture, and leadership commitment. High levels of data governance maturity, cross-functional collaboration, and a clear data-driven decision-making culture significantly strengthen the link between CRM usage and performance outcomes. The results reveal a curvilinear relationship where benefits plateau beyond a critical mass of data analytics capability without concurrent investments in talent development and change management. Industry variances show that manufacturing and retail SMEs gain relatively faster payoffs due to higher customer touchpoints, while professional services accrue advantages through improved relationship-based referrals and knowledge management. The study offers practical implications for SME managers, technology providers, and policy makers by outlining a roadmap for scalable CRM-driven transformation, including a phased implementation plan, key performance indicators, and a governance model that balances innovation with data privacy and ethical considerations. Limitations include potential self-report bias and cross-sectional design, suggesting avenues for longitudinal studies and cross-cultural replication. Overall, the research contributes to the understanding of how data-driven CRM systems serve as a strategic resource that, when embedded within an enabling organizational context, supports sustainable competitive advantage for SMEs in a digital economy.
