Project Abstract

<p> Allelopathy refers to the chemical interactions between plants that influence their growth and development. Plant secondary metabolites have been identified as key mediators of allelopathic interactions. This project aims to investigate the role of plant secondary metabolites in plant-plant allelopathy and their implications for plant community dynamics. By conducting laboratory experiments and bioassays, we will assess the allelopathic potential of different plant species and identify the specific secondary metabolites involved. Additionally, we will explore the mechanisms underlying allelopathic effects, such as changes in plant physiology, root exudation, and soil microbial communities.
