Effects of Probiotics Supplementation on Growth Performance and Gut Health in Broiler Chickens

Project Abstract

The use of probiotics as feed supplements in poultry production has gained significant attention due to their potential benefits in improving growth performance and gut health. This research project aimed to investigate the effects of probiotics supplementation on growth performance and gut health in broiler chickens. The study was conducted over a period of 12 weeks, during which broiler chickens were divided into two groups a control group receiving a standard diet and an experimental group receiving a diet supplemented with probiotics. Various parameters including body weight gain, feed conversion ratio, gut microbiota composition, and gut histomorphology were assessed to evaluate the impact of probiotics supplementation on the broiler chickens. The findings of this study revealed that broiler chickens receiving probiotics supplementation exhibited improved growth performance compared to the control group. Specifically, the probiotics-supplemented group showed higher body weight gain and improved feed conversion efficiency, indicating better overall growth performance. Additionally, analysis of gut microbiota composition showed a favorable shift towards beneficial bacteria in the probiotics-supplemented group, which is indicative of a healthier gut environment. Histomorphological analysis of the gut tissues also demonstrated positive changes in the gut structure of broiler chickens receiving probiotics supplementation, suggesting improved gut health. Overall, the results of this research project highlight the potential benefits of probiotics supplementation in enhancing growth performance and promoting gut health in broiler chickens. These findings contribute to the existing knowledge on the use of probiotics in poultry production and underscore the importance of incorporating probiotics as feed supplements to improve overall performance and health outcomes in broiler chickens. Further research is warranted to explore the mechanisms underlying the observed effects and to optimize probiotics supplementation strategies for maximizing the benefits in poultry production.
