Effects of Different Feeding Strategies on Growth Performance of Broiler Chickens

Project Abstract

The poultry industry plays a crucial role in meeting the increasing global demand for animal protein. Among poultry species, broiler chickens are widely raised for meat production due to their rapid growth rate and efficient feed conversion. The feeding strategies employed in broiler production have a significant impact on growth performance, feed efficiency, and overall profitability. This study aimed to investigate the effects of different feeding strategies on the growth performance of broiler chickens. The research was conducted over a period of 12 weeks, involving a total of 300 broiler chickens divided into three treatment groups Group A received a commercial broiler feed, Group B received a high-protein feed, and Group C received a low-protein feed. The growth performance parameters assessed included body weight gain, feed intake, feed conversion ratio, and mortality rate. Additionally, blood samples were collected to analyze serum biochemical parameters related to growth and metabolism. The results indicated significant differences in growth performance among the treatment groups. Broiler chickens in Group B, receiving the high-protein feed, demonstrated the highest body weight gain and the lowest feed conversion ratio compared to the other groups. However, Group C, receiving the low-protein feed, showed the lowest mortality rate throughout the study period. Serum biochemical analysis revealed variations in metabolic parameters, reflecting the impact of different feeding strategies on nutrient utilization and physiological processes in broiler chickens. Furthermore, economic analysis was conducted to evaluate the cost-effectiveness of the different feeding strategies. Despite the higher initial cost of the specialized feeds, the improved growth performance and feed efficiency observed in certain treatment groups resulted in overall cost savings and increased profitability over the production cycle. In conclusion, this study provides valuable insights into the effects of different feeding strategies on the growth performance of broiler chickens. The findings suggest that tailored feeding programs, considering the nutritional requirements of broilers at different growth stages, can optimize growth performance and economic returns in poultry production. This research contributes to the ongoing efforts to enhance sustainability and efficiency in the poultry industry, ultimately benefiting producers, consumers, and the broader food supply chain.
