Project Abstract
<p> </p><div>Agroforestry, the integration of trees and shrubs with agricultural crops or livestock, has gained recognition as a sustainable land-use system that offers multiple benefits, including enhanced soil fertility, biodiversity conservation, and climate change mitigation. This project aims to assess the role of agricultural education in promoting sustainable agroforestry models, with a focus on understanding the knowledge, attitudes, and practices of farmers and the effectiveness of educational programs in facilitating the adoption of agroforestry practices.</div><div>The project will employ a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews. Initially, a comprehensive literature review will be conducted to gather existing knowledge on agroforestry models, their benefits, and the role of agricultural education in promoting them.</div><div>Quantitative data will be collected through surveys administered to farmers practicing agroforestry and those who have not yet adopted the practice. The surveys will assess farmers' knowledge of agroforestry, their attitudes towards its adoption, and the factors influencing their decision-making process. Additionally, the surveys will evaluate the effectiveness of agricultural education programs in disseminating information and promoting the adoption of sustainable agroforestry models.</div><div>Qualitative research methods, such as interviews and focus group discussions, will be conducted with a sample of farmers practicing agroforestry. These qualitative data will provide insights into the challenges faced by farmers in adopting and implementing agroforestry practices, as well as the role of agricultural education in addressing these challenges.</div><div>The collected data will be analyzed using appropriate statistical techniques and thematic analysis. The findings will contribute to understanding the current knowledge gaps, barriers, and facilitators of sustainable agroforestry adoption, as well as the effectiveness of agricultural education programs in promoting agroforestry practices.</div><div>The expected outcomes of this project include a better understanding of the role of agricultural education in promoting sustainable agroforestry models, insights into the challenges faced by farmers in adopting and implementing agroforestry practices, and recommendations for enhancing agricultural education programs to facilitate the adoption of sustainable agroforestry models.</div> <br><p></p>
