Project Abstract

This research project aims to conduct a comparative analysis of the academic performance of students in accounting in junior secondary schools. The study will delve into various factors that may influence the academic performance of students in accounting, such as teaching methods, teacher qualifications, student motivation, and classroom environment. By comparing the performance of students across different schools, this research seeks to identify best practices that can enhance the learning outcomes in accounting education. The research will employ a mixed-method approach, combining quantitative analysis of academic results with qualitative data from interviews and surveys. Academic records of students in accounting from multiple junior secondary schools will be collected and analyzed to determine the average grades, pass rates, and trends in performance. Additionally, teachers and students will be interviewed to gather insights into the teaching methods used, student engagement levels, and any challenges faced in learning and teaching accounting. The comparative analysis will focus on identifying patterns and correlations between academic performance and various influencing factors. By examining the differences in teaching approaches and student outcomes across schools, this research aims to highlight effective strategies that can be adopted to improve accounting education in junior secondary schools. The findings of this study are expected to provide valuable insights for educators, policymakers, and stakeholders in the education sector to enhance the quality of accounting instruction and student learning experiences. Furthermore, the research will also explore the perceptions and attitudes of students towards accounting as a subject. By understanding students' motivations, interests, and challenges in studying accounting, the study aims to propose recommendations for creating a more engaging and supportive learning environment for students. The qualitative data gathered through interviews and surveys will offer a deeper understanding of the factors that may impact students' academic performance in accounting. In conclusion, this research project will contribute to the existing literature on accounting education by providing a comprehensive comparative analysis of academic performance in junior secondary schools. By examining the factors influencing student outcomes and identifying best practices, this study aims to offer practical recommendations for improving the quality of accounting education and enhancing student achievement in this subject area.
