Accounting plays a crucial role in promoting peace and economic development in Nigeria. The relationship between accounting practices and peacebuilding efforts is significant, as transparent financial reporting can enhance trust among stakeholders and reduce the likelihood of corruption and mismanagement of resources. This study aims to investigate the impact of accounting on peace and economic development in Nigeria by examining the role of financial transparency, accountability, and good governance in fostering sustainable peace and economic growth. The research will employ a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative analysis of financial data with qualitative interviews and case studies to provide a comprehensive understanding of the link between accounting practices and peacebuilding in Nigeria. The study will focus on various stakeholders, including government agencies, private sector organizations, civil society groups, and international organizations, to assess the effectiveness of accounting mechanisms in promoting peace and economic development. The findings of this research are expected to contribute to the existing literature on the role of accounting in peacebuilding and economic development, particularly in the context of Nigeria. By highlighting the importance of financial transparency and accountability, this study aims to provide valuable insights for policymakers, practitioners, and researchers seeking to promote sustainable peace and economic growth in Nigeria and other conflict-affected regions. Overall, this research seeks to demonstrate how accounting practices can serve as a tool for promoting peace and economic development in Nigeria. By enhancing transparency, accountability, and good governance through effective accounting mechanisms, stakeholders can build trust, reduce the risk of corruption, and ensure the efficient allocation of resources for sustainable development.
