Abstract
The aim of this research study is to evaluate the effectiveness of laser therapy in the treatment of periodontal diseases. Periodontal diseases are prevalent worldwide and pose a significant challenge to oral health. Traditional treatment methods, such as scaling and root planing, have limitations in terms of efficacy and patient comfort. Laser therapy has emerged as a promising alternative in the management of periodontal diseases due to its ability to target bacteria and promote tissue regeneration. However, the extent of its efficacy compared to conventional treatments remains a topic of debate. This research project will begin with a comprehensive review of the literature on periodontal diseases, their etiology, and current treatment modalities. The review will delve into the mechanisms of action of laser therapy in periodontal treatment and compare its outcomes with traditional methods. Various types of lasers used in dentistry and their specific applications in periodontal therapy will be explored to provide a holistic understanding of the subject. The methodology chapter of this research will detail the study design, sample selection criteria, and data collection methods. A randomized controlled trial will be conducted to compare the clinical outcomes of laser therapy and conventional treatment in patients with periodontal diseases. Parameters such as reduction in probing depth, clinical attachment level gain, and microbial load will be assessed to determine the efficacy of laser therapy. The findings of this study will be discussed in depth in the results and discussion chapter. Statistical analysis will be conducted to compare the outcomes of laser therapy and traditional treatment methods. The potential advantages and limitations of laser therapy in periodontal treatment will be critically evaluated to provide insights into its clinical applicability. In conclusion, this research project seeks to contribute to the existing knowledge on the use of laser therapy in periodontal treatment.
