Dental caries, a prevalent oral health issue, poses a significant burden on individuals and healthcare systems worldwide. The efficacy of toothpaste in preventing dental caries has been a subject of interest among researchers and oral health professionals. This study aimed to assess the effectiveness of different types of toothpaste in preventing dental caries through a comprehensive evaluation of their key components and mechanisms of action. The research methodology involved a systematic literature review, laboratory experiments, and clinical trials to compare the efficacy of fluoride, antimicrobial, and herbal toothpaste formulations in inhibiting caries development. The findings revealed that fluoride toothpaste demonstrated the highest efficacy in preventing dental caries, followed by antimicrobial formulations, while herbal toothpaste showed limited effectiveness. Factors such as fluoride concentration, abrasiveness, and antimicrobial agents significantly influenced the outcomes.
