Dental anxiety among pediatric patients remains a significant challenge in the field of dentistry, often leading to avoidance of necessary dental care and negative long-term oral health outcomes. In recent years, virtual reality (VR) technology has emerged as a promising tool for managing anxiety and improving patient experiences in various healthcare settings. This research project aims to assess the efficacy of VR technology in reducing dental anxiety among pediatric patients. The study will begin by providing an overview of the prevalence and impact of dental anxiety among pediatric populations. A comprehensive literature review will explore existing research on the use of VR technology for anxiety management in healthcare, highlighting its potential benefits and limitations. The research methodology will involve a mixed-methods approach, including both quantitative and qualitative data collection methods. Quantitative data will be gathered through pre- and post-intervention surveys to assess changes in anxiety levels before and after exposure to VR technology during dental procedures. Qualitative data will be collected through interviews with pediatric patients, parents, and dental healthcare providers to explore their experiences and perceptions of using VR technology in the dental setting. The findings of this study will be discussed in detail, considering both the quantitative results and qualitative insights gathered from participants.
