Abstract
Periodontal disease is a prevalent oral health issue characterized by inflammation and infection of the gums and surrounding tissues. Traditional treatment methods for periodontal disease often involve scaling and root planing, which may not always be effective in managing the condition. In recent years, laser therapy has emerged as a promising alternative for the treatment of periodontal disease due to its ability to target bacteria and promote tissue regeneration. This research aims to investigate the efficacy of laser therapy in the treatment of periodontal disease. The study will begin with a comprehensive review of the existing literature on laser therapy and its application in periodontal disease treatment. This literature review will explore the mechanisms of action of laser therapy, types of lasers used, treatment protocols, and reported outcomes in clinical studies. By synthesizing this information, the study aims to establish the current state of knowledge in the field and identify gaps that warrant further investigation. The research methodology will involve a prospective clinical trial conducted at a dental clinic, where patients with periodontal disease will be randomly assigned to either the laser therapy group or the control group receiving traditional treatment. The efficacy of laser therapy will be assessed based on clinical parameters such as probing depth, clinical attachment level, bleeding on probing, and microbial analysis. Patients will be followed up at regular intervals to monitor treatment outcomes over a specified period.
