Abstract
The aim of this research project is to investigate the impact of various dental materials on the longevity of composite restorations. Dental composite materials have become increasingly popular in restorative dentistry due to their aesthetic qualities and ability to mimic the natural appearance of teeth. However, the longevity of composite restorations can be influenced by factors such as the type of dental material used, bonding techniques, and patient-specific variables. This study will focus on comparing the longevity of composite restorations fabricated using different dental materials, including resin composites, glass ionomer cements, and hybrid materials. Chapter one provides an introduction to the research topic, highlighting the background of the study, problem statement, objectives, limitations, scope, significance, structure of the research, and definition of key terms. The literature review in chapter two will explore existing research on dental materials used in composite restorations, factors affecting restoration longevity, and current trends in restorative dentistry. The methodology in chapter three will detail the research design, sample selection, data collection methods, variables measured, and statistical analysis techniques employed. Chapter four will present a detailed discussion of the findings from the research, including comparisons of the longevity of composite restorations fabricated using different dental materials. Factors such as material properties, bonding techniques, and patient outcomes will be analyzed to determine their impact on restoration longevity. The conclusions drawn from the research findings will be summarized in chapter five, along with recommendations for clinical practice and suggestions for future research in the field of restorative dentistry. Overall, this research project aims to contribute to the existing body of knowledge on dental materials and their impact on the longevity of composite restorations. By comparing the performance of different materials in clinical settings, this study seeks to provide valuable insights for dental professionals in selecting the most appropriate materials for achieving durable and aesthetically pleasing restorations.
