Abstract
The advent and widespread adoption of body-worn cameras (BWCs) by law enforcement agencies have sparked significant interest and debate regarding their impact on police accountability and citizen perceptions. This research aims to explore and analyze the implications of BWC implementation on enhancing police accountability and shaping citizen perceptions of law enforcement practices. The study begins with an examination of the historical background of body-worn cameras in policing, tracing their evolution and adoption in response to calls for increased transparency and oversight of law enforcement activities. The problem statement identifies the gaps in existing literature and highlights the need for empirical research to evaluate the effectiveness of BWCs in promoting police accountability and fostering positive citizen perceptions. The objectives of the study include assessing the impact of BWCs on police behavior and decision-making, examining the perceptions of law enforcement officers and community members regarding BWC use, and identifying challenges and limitations associated with BWC implementation. The scope of the study encompasses a comprehensive review of relevant literature, as well as empirical data collection through surveys, interviews, and observational studies. The significance of this research lies in its potential to contribute valuable insights to the ongoing discourse on police accountability and community relations.
