Body-worn cameras (BWCs) have become a prominent tool in law enforcement agencies worldwide, with the aim of increasing transparency and accountability in policing practices. This study investigates the impact of BWCs on police use of force incidents from a criminological perspective. The research aims to analyze whether the presence of BWCs influences the behavior of both police officers and civilians during encounters, ultimately affecting the frequency and nature of use of force incidents. The study begins by providing a comprehensive review of the literature on BWCs, use of force incidents, and their intersection within the field of criminology. Various theoretical frameworks and empirical studies related to BWCs and police behavior are explored to establish a theoretical foundation for the research. Methodologically, this study adopts a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative analysis of use of force data before and after BWC implementation in a selected police department, as well as qualitative interviews with police officers and community members. The research methodology includes data collection, analysis, and interpretation to provide a nuanced understanding of the impact of BWCs on police behavior and use of force incidents.
