Cybercrime has emerged as a significant threat to society in the digital age, posing various challenges to individuals, organizations, and governments worldwide. This research project aims to conduct a comprehensive criminological analysis of the impact of cybercrime on society. The study delves into the various forms of cybercrime, its prevalence, and the detrimental effects it has on individuals, businesses, and communities. By exploring the underlying factors contributing to the rise of cybercrime, this research seeks to provide valuable insights into understanding the dynamics of this evolving criminal phenomenon. The research methodology employed in this study includes an extensive literature review, qualitative and quantitative data analysis, and case studies to examine the multifaceted nature of cybercrime and its implications on society. Chapter One lays the foundation for the research by introducing the topic, providing the background of the study, stating the problem statement, outlining the objectives, discussing limitations and scope, highlighting the significance of the study, presenting the structure of the research, and defining key terms. Chapter Two presents a detailed literature review comprising ten key themes related to cybercrime, including the types of cybercrimes, the motivations behind cybercriminal activities, the impact on victims, the role of law enforcement, and the challenges in combating cybercrime. This chapter contextualizes the research within the existing body of knowledge and identifies gaps that the current study aims to address. Chapter Three outlines the research methodology, detailing the research design, data collection methods, sampling techniques, data analysis procedures, and ethical considerations. The chapter also discusses the limitations of the chosen methodology and justifies the approach taken to ensure the validity and reliability of the research findings. In Chapter Four, the findings of the research are presented and discussed in-depth.
